8+2/3(2n-9)=10

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just to be clear, is your equation,\[8+\frac{2}{3(2n-9)}=10\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

or

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[8+\frac{2}{3}(2n-9)=10\]?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your aim is to isolate the n. What you need to do is 'unwrap' it. Showing you is probably easiest. Subtract 8 from both sides first to get\[\frac{2}{3}(2n-9)=2\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We need to get rid of the fraction next. So multiply both sides by 3\[2(2n-9)=6\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now we need to divide both sides by 2 to get\[2n-9=3\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now add 9 to both sides,\[2n=12\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and finally, divide both sides by 2 to get\[n=6\]

Happy with that?
