hi, How you would answer this; "A syringe to be used for drawing a sample of blood has a diameter of 20mm and a length of 5cm. Calculate the volume of blood in the syringe in mm3 when the syringe is full." I got 1.57*10^-5 mm but the options given are all In *10^3 mm. Help please

convert all measurement to read the same.. cm ->mm or the other way around; then use the formula for the volume of a cylnder: V = pi(r^2)h where r = half the diameter, and h= the length of the needle.

Yes, I did that and come to the answer 1.57*10^-5 mm3 However, the choices given are: a 1.57 x 10^3 mm3 b 6.28 x 10^3 mm3 c 15.7 x 10^3 mm3 d 62.8 x 10^3 mm3

50mm = 5 cm? is that right? pi(10^2)(50)?

15707 mm^3 is what I get, move the decimal "3" places to get the other jargon... 15.7 x10^3

always remember, the exponent of the "10" tells you how many decimal places to move..... and meters? wow.... :)
