I just noted that I did not show how the original numbers were changed. 18 is the same as 9 x 2. Well 9 is a perfect square with a square root of 3 which can be removed from the radical leaving only the 2 in the radical. Comphrendo?
the 54 is the same as 9 times 6 and the same procedure can be followed leaving only the 6 inside the radical.
