Two types of coffee beans are to be mixed so that the blend will sell for $3 dollars per pound. One type of bean costs $2 per pound and the other costs $5 per pound. How much of each type is needed to prepare 110 five-pound cans of the coffee blend?

Trying to work it out with a table. I have to formula cost*amount=total. But, I don't know what to do with the total for the mix... x*y or x+y?

Just add the total cost for each compound to get the total for the blend and describe that with the $3 too, using that formula.

I don't think it works that way. If you add the cost you have 2x+5y=3. The given answer is 360 and 1/2. That can't be right.

well, one of the given answers. 366 2/3, 183 1/3

But I have no clue how to get that answer.

No, I mean add the total cost. So you want 110*5*3 total.

OpenStudy (nowhereman):

Also you need a second equation, which would come from the total weight.
