solve 3x^2+13x+4=0

It doesn't look like you can factor, so you'll have to set the equation equal to zero (subtract 8 from both sides) and use the Quadratic Formula. (It's hard to type out, so here's a picture. http://www.scientificpages.net/math/images/Quadratic_Formula.gif) A is the x squared coefficient, b is the x coefficient, and c is the constant. So you just plug in the numbers 3, 13, and 4 into the formula for a, b, and c. Remember also that with the plus and minus you'll get two answers.

=(1x+4)(3x+1) x=-4/1, -1/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the factor is 12 * 1 3x^2 + 13x + 4, a =3,b=13,c=4 ac=12 , factor is 1*12 3x^2+12x+1x+4=0 3x(x+4)+1(x+4)=o (3x+1)(x+4)=0 x=-1/3 , x =-4
