In mathematics, the sine function is a function of an angle. In a right triangle, sine gives the ratio of the length of the side opposite an angle to the length of the hypotenuse.

In easier terms the sine is the name of a specific ratio in math. In a right triangle it may be opp/hyp but in the unit circle(r =1) it may be y/r = y, or the y-coordinate on the unit circle.

it's a trigonometric ratio, applicable in a wide array of math problems. There are different ways of writing and manipulating it, but ultimately, for any angle between 0 and 360, the ratio of the opposite side compared to the radius of hypotenuse is = to the sin of that angle. There are sines even outside of right triangles, but usually one tries to keep it simpler by evaluating right angle sines. I've only had to calc them otherwise in high school trig problems in Algebra II, and later on in Statics, because some of the counter balancing force angles required that approach. It's neat stuff, as are cos, tan, and all of their inverses.

dude, I can give you some direction on how to tackle trig problems, but I'm not going to give you 25 answers in 30 min. Or go through all 25 problems necessarily. I should be able to get through a few problems answer pertinent questions, and you whip it all out. What's the main issue you're having problems understanding in trig?

I understand but everything!! See i was homebound during the time the teacher was teaching trig, so I missed the lesson and now I haven't caught up so I'm lost
