geomentary ? what dos it mean when it says subtract from both sides

OpenStudy (anonymous):

DO you have an example of the problem?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

take away the same amount, the same value, the same terms equally from both sides of an equation so that the equation stays "balanced" .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

exactly what amistre64 said what ever you do to one side you have to do to the other

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so subtract what from what

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you have an example?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

14x+82=180

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok so you would subtract 82 from both sides

OpenStudy (amistre64):

14x +82-82 = 180 -82

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which would leave you with : 14x=180-82 or 14x=98

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you would divide both sides by 14 14x/14=98/14 x=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I think I got it thanks ok Im back so the 2nd part is 13(7)+82 how do I figure that out what do I do with the 7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is the full equation?
