Why is ln is used when finding derivatives or doing logarithmic differentiation, but ln and log are often equally useful when solving exponential equations?

Pretty much its "why is only "ln" used when finding derivatives and logarithmic differentiation", but both "ln(log base e)" and "log(base 10)" are useful for solving exponential equations. (If that helps)
