is there a simple way of finding x intercepts of cubic equations

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find an x intercept you just substitute 0 for y and find the value of x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sometimes the x intercepts cannot be found by factorizing it, is there a simple formula or anything?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

trial and error really; I think there as a cubic formula, but its messy

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh alright, i have see one formula as well but its very long! thanks a lot for your help!
