hi everyone. im taking a class in visual basic and im not very good at these things: functions and sub procedures, LINQ, queries, and arrays. how can i improve my skills and understanding

I suggest going through some examples online, and getting the syntax down..or watch some videos of tutorials on visual basic on youtube..

you should read your book and try every single example.. when i mean try i mean write them as if they were yours.. it'll really helpful and you will understand a lot.. and again tutorials help a lot too try youtube or forums

Somebody said it's not very good to learn programming starting with visual basic,his name is Dijkstra.Maybe he is a geek,but I think maybe it will be helpful to let you know this : )

Lol thanx.. funny thing is thhat guy wus on my test..but yea my college teaches visual basic first and does not hav java nor python.what do you reccommend

Now,I'm reading <structure and interpretation of computer program> which teaches you programming using Scheme(a beautiful and powerful language.letting you focus on language itself,not being bothered by the details of machine). it's really a wonderful book, you can download it here, http://groups.csail.mit.edu/mac/classes/6.001/abelson-sussman-lectures/

I think Python is also a good choice, for the same reason that it let you focus on language itself. This is an open course on MIT( http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-fall-2008/), you can use it for self-study.

I think programming has lots of fun, enjoy it : )

I checked that out two days ago. I LOVE the way the professor at MIT teaches python very smart professor. I heard about Scheme but never really knew about it. Once school ends I'm going to put a lot of effort into learning more about programming. I also think programming is fun...when you are able to understand it completely lol. i like challenges and programming definitely challenges me. Thanx for all of your help and suggestions. Highly appreciated.
