What formula is a shortcut for the square root method?.. Help pls!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what s square root method??!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha its a formula to find the square roots of a perfect square trinomial!! lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you mean delta? -b+sqrt(delta) / 2a?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol look it up on ur comp!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it ax^3+bx^2+cx+d??? solving problems like this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no its binomials in the form of ax^2 - c = 0 or ax^2 = c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you referring to trinomials such as x^2+6*x+9 = (x+3)*(x+3)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh, i know, you want a shortcut? ax^2=c, so x^2=c/a, x=±√(c/a)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and YES! jprahman got it right!!! :o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and yesh a shortcut would be very nice!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, you mean the factorizing, don' you

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im reading two diff sets of notes so both wat i said and wat jprahman said r possible and right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for a perfect square trinomial factoring a finding the square root of the trinomial are equivalent because if you square the binomial you get the trinomial as a result, so the binomial is the square root. so yes, that will work.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and finding

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes. you have it rite u just put it a little smarter ^^
