How do you find the distance between two points

OpenStudy (amistre64):

waht are your 2 points :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

lets say a = x2 - x1 ; and b = y2-y1 then the distance between the points (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) is: sqrt(a^2 + b^2)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if the two points are (a,b) and (c,d) the the distance formula is sqrt[(a -c)^2 + (b -d)^2]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

if there is a third dimension; you tuck it under the radical as well. (x1,y1,z1) (x2,y2,z2) sqrt(X^2 + Y^2 + Z^2)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and that works thru the "nth" dimension.
