simplify (6a-4)/(7a-5) - 3
Ok, you are going to multiply your binomials using the foil methode then simplify your answer
what do you mean? what binomails am I multiplying?! this is an algebraic fraction, 6a -4 over 7a - 5 and subtract 3 from that! i think ur confused...
ok first you are going to simplify the (6a-4)(7a-5)
give me a sec to figure out the equation maker
no im not supposed to multiply it, it's (6a - 4) divided by (7a - 5)...
Oh 1 sec
Alright either i am drawling a blank here or it's already in simplist terms due to the fact that there is no common factor. If you have the answer in the back of the book i will attempt to go step by step backwards to figure out what they want.
maybe you just don't know how to do it lol np I'll try it out on my own I guess....I don't have the answer though. :S
you can clear the fraction using an lcm and end up with -15a-9
with nothing under it?
It will clear the bottom if you do that. it would look something like ((7a-5)(6a-4)/(7a-5))-3(7a-5) the denomator will cancell and then you simplify
thank you!
i made a mistake on the signs so check them
ok
its -15a + 11
yea i did it in my head but just for aperance sake i would rewrite that to 11-15a just because it looks better and makes it easier when you are doing harder operations later in your math career
