Can anyone please explain to me the easiest way to learn percents?

Well a percent is always over 100 EX: 8/100=8% Now are you trying to find like 25% off of a certain item purchased or something like that?

Percentages are basically fractions. 100% is one whole unit of things. So 50% would be half of one whole unit and 25% would be a quarter of one whole unit. So for example, if you have a watermelon and you cut it in half. One watermelon is one unit, so the entire melon is 100%. After you cut it in half, each piece represents 50% of the original whole unit. Adding them together will yield back the original 100%. Likewise, anything over 100% simpliy denotes more than 1 whole unit. In terms of number, 200% of 5 would be 2 units of the number 5, so 200% of 5 is 10. Sometimes percentages over 100% don't apply in some context,for example, if your computer has a power percentage bar, it is defining it's total power as 100%. It cannot exceed its total power, therefore it cannot exceed 100% power.
So say there is a pair of jeans that are 50 dollars and they are on sale for 25% off. You would set an equation up like this: \[x/50=25/100\] Now the x is representing the amount of the 25 percent in dollars. you will do cross multiplication so: 50(25)=1250 100(x)=100x your problem now looks like this: 100x=1250 Now divide both sides by 100 to get x alone x=$12.50 This is saying that 25% of $50= $12.50 If you wanted to go further to find how much you would pay for the jeans with the 25% off you would simply do subtraction 50-12.50=$37.50 So you would pay $37.50 dollars to purchase the jeans on sale
Or using the same example: Because you know that 25%=25/100=.25 You could simply find what 25% of the 50 dollar jeans was by multiplying 50(.25)=12.50
