Probability is the outcome in question divided by all the possible outcomes. How many golf balls have numbers greater than five? That's the number on top (numerator). How many golf balls are there in all? That's the number on the bottom (denominator).

If you say 4/10 assuming 0 - 9 then you reduce that fraction. Probability is usually written as fractions. 2/5 so it will happen 2 out of every 5 times you do it.
