What kind of novels would you study in a North American Literature class?
lovely novels.
hahahaa yeah but seriously... cause i neeed to decide by tomorrrow:/ its not native american is it?
The Scarlet Letter or The House of the Seven Gables (Nathanial Hawthorne); The Red Badge of Courage (Stephen Crane); Uncle Tom's Cabin (Harriet Beecher Stowe); The Great Gatsby (F. Scott Fitzgerald); The Awakening (Kate Chopin)--these are just a few of my favorites.
Fitzgerald and Salinger are great, but good luck with Hawthorne and Chopin lol.
haha thanks guys~
Is the question "which novels would YOU want to study in class" or "which novels do North Americans study in class?" @Mrs.Leung's response is fairly common reading in high school classrooms, and so are wingspanens, Salinger, Austen, and Bronte. Modern pop (especially teen) novels are making in-roads as well, but they are too diverse to mention.
well most people study the "how to kill a mocking bird" book. Oh and also "Fahrenheit 451" !!
Also, are we talking about college level or high school?
im doing The Scarlet Letter and Beloved.... argh!
