How are the gametes formed? They are haploid, so what kind of cell division gives gametes as the daughter cells? I am kind of confused, because most cells in the human body (except gametes ofcourse, and some exceptions that I might be missing out) are diploid. Is there any kind of cell division in which the ploidy is reduced to half?
gametes are haploid .they are formed by meiosis (cell division) .meiosis is similar to mitosis except that th efrist division is reductional while the second one is equational
This is good information. So what cells undergo meiosis to give the gametes?
yes gametes are produced by meiosis.
No, I Meant to ask, what cells undergo meiosis to give the gametes?
the epithelial cells lining the seminiferous tubules of male testis and of ovary in female undergo meiosis to produce gamates by reductional, equational division followed by various morphological and physiological changes till the final step.........
