Can someone tell me if when you graph this it goes up or down? Y=-(x-2)^2
You can answer that yourself. If you have a positive number and you square it will the result be positive or negative?
well it reflected over the y axis i believe lol
so it will go down?
yes, but do you understand what bearbear means?
no the equation would probably be reflected that doesn't mean it goes up or down
what's the original equation?
so will it look like this click the link
is that a quadratic ?
idk thats just one of my chocies
for any value of x, (x-2)^2 will always be positive correct?, or if x = 2, it will be 0.
so it looks like this
wait im getting a photo of how it looks like but if you have a ti-84 calculator go to y= then go to the button where it has "x,t,o w/ a slash in a middle, n" which is located right next to the alpha button then go to the x squared then press graph
no, that is wrong katie
@ katie, do you want to learn or just want the answer?
both lol
oh wow this is so easy do you have a graphing calculator ??? omg you should get on if you don't have one but anyways you can always graph it, do you know how to graph the equation ??
no
okay katie, it is very simple. at x = 2, y = 0. for all other values of x, y is negative. correct?
Because any number squared will be positive, and any positive number multiplied by -1 will be negative.
so you will have an inverted parabola with its vertex at x = 2
ohh okay that is a chocie thanks guys
