1)AB = BC . 1)Given 2)AB+BC=AC . 2)Segment addition postulate 3)BC+BC=AC . 3)Substitution property 4)AC=2BC . 4)Definition of Addition (I think) If you need to do a paragraph proof then just convert this into words, paragraph proofs are a little easier too. Points A,B,C can be placed onto a segment. Using the segment addition postulate, AB + BC = AC, since AB = BC. AB may be substituted for BC using the substitution property. Therefore BC + BC = AC. By adding both like terms together, 2BC = AC.
