formulate a question thanks

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i divide these polynomials? 10a^3+19a+9/2a+3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have to follow the steps for long division

OpenStudy (anonymous):

begin by dividing 2a into 10a^3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i know how to do that, but everytime i do i get a crazy answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What did you get for your answer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This one is kinda weird because you get decimal numbers when you divide

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't know you could have decimal answers

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i guess that makes it a lil easier

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, you usually don't....are you supposed to be using long division?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you sure the problem is written correctly? If it was "19a^2" it would work out nicely :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

unfortunately it is just 10a^3+19a+9...that's what makes its so hard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i agree that it gives a crazy answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, i just tried it again and it comes out with decimals. That's a strange problem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its crazy. did you get 5a^2-7.5a

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah, and it just gets worse from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol yeah it does

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well, you're doing it right....just a bad problem LOL
