I want to devise an expt to study the effect of temperature on the electrical conductivity of metals. Any suggestions?
How about a four point probe setup on the metal ? you can heat the metal on a temperature controllable hotplate.
What metals should I look at? Copper wire? Steelwire?
you can take three wires two of copper and third one of iron and then connect one end of iron wire with one end one copper wire and other end iron wire with one end of second copper wire. After this, dip one connected end in hot water(placed on a heater ) and other connected end in well crushed ice such that the connected end is touching the ice. after this the two unconnected ends of the copper wire are connected to the galvonometer which shows the flow of current as the temperature of water rises....
If you want to study effect of temperature on electrical conductivity of metal you need to think of devices to measure temperature of your metal specimen and the resistance of your specimen. The law about this we know that as the temperature increases the resistivity of metals increases. Now think little and then you can.
