two astronauts are pulling on each other with a rope. one pulls 30 N to the right, the other pulls 20 N to the left. What is the tension in the rope when the force is applied? We can assume the guy pulling 30 N is 50kg and the guy pulling 20 N is 40 kg, but thats not relevant. So my question is, what is the tension in the rope.

Of course when the force is applied for long, the tension becomes slack because they are moving towards each other. But the instant before it becomes slack, i know there is newtons third law pairs and there is tension. For example in
