If I remember correctly, in C you have to terminate a string with a \0, whereas in C++ strings are objects and self terminating. Helps primarily with buffer overruns and thus C++ is a bit safer.

In C, there technically isn't any strings, they're array of characters terminated by a zero byte ( '\0' ). In C++ strings are (I believe) actually a class, with many methods.
