I need the formula used to find an answer to the following: A square sandbox with sides 5ft long, and I want to put sand 1.05ft deep in the box, how much sand would I need?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First, what is the formula for volume and area of a box?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Volume is base times width times height. Area is ???? can't remember?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

length x width

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah? I'm still at a loss. So how do I get the amount needed for the sand? The volume would be 125 cubic feet. And the area would be 25sq ft. Now what?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, so length times width times 1.05 (height) gives us 26.25 cubic feet of sand.

Thank you so much for your help. Have a great day, better yet a great week, even better yet a great month......
