whats the difference between parenthesis and brackets
woman, look it up on google
im looking
ok do that
brackets are generalized parenthesis. for example, () are called parenthesis. () are also called brackets. [] are called square brackets. {} are called curly brackets.
i know that much but when do i use what?
i know what they are i just dont know when i am suppose to use them
Use wikipedia always before posting your questions here. I am doing the same thing you would have done had you searched for brackets. Brackets have a lot of different uses in a lot of different fields of math. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bracket_%28mathematics%29
you cycle thru the brackets to keep things "in order" :) you tend to use (), then [], then {}, then (), then [], then {} or some such menagerie
Yes, we use brackets mostly to make the equations readable and to define clear distinctions between one portion of the equation and the other.
when graphing?
you can use any brackets you like as long as you are consistent. we generally use (2,5) to define the point x = 2 and y = 5 in a graph.
right got that but when you graph y+3<7 y=4 <-----) or <-----] how do i know which to use
