what are the slopes of x=2 x=4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

infinity or undefined. this could be different. is that all the question says?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it says determine whether the graphs of the equation are parallel lines in the answer part is says the slope of x=2 is ? slope of x=4 is ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the lines are parallel lines because they both have an undefined slope. If you think back to that slope formula \[m = (y _{1}-y _{2})/(x _{1}-x _{2})\] points on the first line such as (2,0) and (2,1) result in something divided by 0, same thing for the other line. They both have infinite (something divided by 0 slopes) or some like to call it undefined slopes, so both lines are parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x=2 can be written as x = 0y + 2 So, whatever value you put for y, the value of x always comes out 2. So, you have points like (2,0), (2,1), 2,-1) as solutions to this equation Hence, x=2 is a line parallel to the y-axis and passing through the point (2,0) on the x-axis. Similarly x=4 also is a line parallel to the y-axis but passing through the point (4,0) on the x-axis. Since both are parallel to the y-axis, they r parallel to each other.... Hope this clears up things for you......
