graph -5x-3y=-7

OpenStudy (amistre64):

get 2 points and draw aline

OpenStudy (anonymous):

extract y from the equation and then find the slope, by comparing the equation with y=mx+c where m is the slope

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x = 0 ; y = 7/3 wne y = 0 ; x = 7/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now in the equation put x=0 and find what y is and then do the same for y that is put y = 0 and find what x is

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dont need slope with this equation; you could do it, but its extra work

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I understand that but if a student asks this question, and if I tell him or her to find the slope, he or she will think on it, and eventually gain a better picture.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now since you have said that, he will no longer think on it ;)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what? no fear there....noone ever listens to me :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used mathematica and the plot I got is the following

OpenStudy (amistre64):

mathematica to draw a line? in my day we had to walk 10 miles to the nearest store and by a ruler...

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i remember back before they invented addition; we used to just lay sticks and stones together....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I remember----even back before that nothing actually existed, and all of on a sudden everything came to existence (I consider this a bad luck)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

haha I know. But the only way I learn thins is plotting things and this guy can confirm his/her graph

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We perhaps are the reason for the creation, and we tried to create light and unintentionally created darkness, we tried to create matter and created antimatter, we tried to create happiness and created sadness. We only wanted the good things from the creation, but the damned creation told us to create good you need to create bad or evil so as to actually contrast the goodness. I wish it ends now.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It was a great mistake

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks emunrradtvamg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We never felt that we can't draw a white line on a white sheet. We only wanted to draw white lines, but had to create a black sheet for the same If the creator would have realized a bit of this before creation; no creation would have ever occured

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didn mean you to feel bad. When I help my friend I used to use graphs. This makes everything clear. And perhaps for us drawing a lines is easy, however for somebody else it can be a big issue. So draws can be helpful to some extent.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

makes me want to learn to read ;)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and has been widely regarded as a bad move. hhgg

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this right lol -3y=5x-7 (0,3),(8,5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(7.5)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you already have an equation fora line stated, no need to re form it

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-5x -3y = -7 is an equation for a line....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

when x=0 (0,7/3) when y=0 (7/5, 0)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

7/3 = 2' 1/3 7/5 = 1' 2/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok lets start again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have new equation 2y=5x+11

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how do i solve step by step

OpenStudy (amistre64):

to find it easily; move the 5x over.. -5x +2y = 11

OpenStudy (amistre64):

make x=0 and solve for y 0 + 2y = 11; y = 11/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How to draw a line. The first thing you have to do is: 1) find the x-intercexion and the y-intersexion. X-interseccion (y=0) -5x+2(0)=11 so x=11/-5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

make y = 0 -5x +0 = 11 ; solve for x x = -11/5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

does it make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sort of

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in order to find Y-Interseccion (x=0), we do the following: -5(0)+2y=11 so y=11/2

OpenStudy (amistre64):

thats the easiest way; another way is to get y alone 2y = 5x+11 y = 5x/2 + 11/2 now any number you use for x will make a y and plot the points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

11/-5+2y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you mean by that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

never mind lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sorry im slow today

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No problem my friend, we are here to help you. So the final thing (step 2) is to plot the two point we just got. They are: Point1=(-11/5;0) Point2=(0,11/2 ) Plot this two numbers and join them with a line and this is the draw you want. Any question, please ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its asking for 3 points

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a line can be plotted by using just two point.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

on this test if i just put two its saying incorrect

OpenStudy (anonymous):

grid just goes up to 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

send a picture of the question

OpenStudy (amistre64):

a table of plots can be made using many points :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hold up k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i hope it shows

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its not showing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey i took it with my camera why wont it show?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

dont know. First save it to your desktop and then attach if from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cannot see it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you open from you desktop?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea just when i post it here wont open

OpenStudy (anonymous):

open it with paint. Then save it as jpg. Then attach it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

save it as .bmp. The picture i attached is bmp

OpenStudy (anonymous):

here we go again lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finally lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

letme check it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhh ok I now know what you want. You have to list different values for x and y isolating y y=(5x+11)/2 now you have to choose values for x, replace them in the last formula and find y. for example. X Y ------- 0 -> 5.5 1 -> 8 2 -> 10.5 the points are: p1=(0;5.5) p2=(1;8) p3=(2;10.5) insert this three point in your graph and you must hopefuly be done :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats the third one down 10 over 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5 i mean

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it means 10.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you have to move 2 units in the x-direction and 10.5 in y-direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n the first one is just 0,5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for point 1 you have to move 0 units in the x-direction (no movements) and 5.5 units in the y-direction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok I have to go. Hope you are already done with you test

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks for ur help but it was wrong
