5/8 to decimal do i do 5/8 * 1/100 then divide answer for decimal?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

0.00625 is the answer right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I just put 5/8 into the calculator and the answer is .625

OpenStudy (anonymous):

simplify: 36x2 − 12x ------------ 4x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the 2 is squared

OpenStudy (anonymous):

36x^2/4x-12x/4x (you can separate those fractions like that. With that, it ends up being 9x-3 once you divide through.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so no 9x^2

Divide 5 by 8 using grammer school long division process. 5 is smaller than 8 so put .0 after the 5. 8 goes into 5.0 .6 times. 8 times .6 is 4.8, subtract from 5.0 is .2 and so forth. Today most people who can afford a hand held calculator would plug in the setup numbers 5 and 8 and the push the divide button. However if you were stranded on a pacific island with no calculator you could always solve the fraction by hand using a stick and a sandy beach.
