(3y^2-5y+1)(y-4).....simplify...i got 3y^3-5y-4 but the right answer is 3y^3-17y^2+21y-4 ..i dont understand how they got the -17y and 21 y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(3y^2 - 5y + 1) (y) = 3y^3 - 5y^2 + y (3y^2 - 5y + 1) (-4) = -12y^2 + 20y - 4 add those terms together. 3y^3 - 17y^2 + 21y - 4
