In a circle, S=r*(theta2-theta1). Must the angle difference be in rad or in degrees? How to know when to use each?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

radians are the standard. Radians come from radius measurements.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what about degrees? when do I use them?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you use degrees when you want information to be expressed in degrees. But if i recal correctly, 'S' is the length of the arc of a sector right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes

OpenStudy (amistre64):

whenever you need a measurement; you use the radius as a measureing devise; and your answer is in radians.. Whenever you want to know the measure of the angle itself, degrees or radians willl work

OpenStudy (amistre64):

degrees are a measure of rotations; raadians are a measure of distance....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahhh ok. So I should use both in my example?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

use both; and see which one you like best :) but if yo are measureing the distance of the arc length; 's'; the standard is radians.... it sounds silly to say.. its 60 degrees long :)

Ok thanks
