Can someone help me understand parameters
what??
what is that?
The question ask to find the parametric representation of a plane that passes through point(a,2,-3) and contains the vectors i+ j-k and i -j +k
point(1,2,-3)
umm.. wow hold on its gonna take me awhlie kay?
why does x= 1 + u(1) v+(1) ?
y= 2 + u(1) + v(-1) z= -3 + u(-1) + v(1)
swrry i don't know dat:(
Cross the two vectors, then find the parametric equations. To give an answer to your original questions, parameters is like the 1,2,3 inch marks on a ruler; basically in calculus you do that to a curve or a line.
I found out that the parametric equations are x= a1 + u* b1 + v* c1 y= a2 + u* b2+ v* c2 z= a3 + u* b3 + v* c3 where (a1,a2,a3) is the point <b1,b2,b3> is a vector b <c1,c2,c3> is vector c
I really dont know how the book got that
May be you didn't present the whole problem, the answers contain a lot of info that is not in your original info.
Nope everything is there. This is in three dimensions.
May be you are presenting a new problem from the one you posted 3 hours ago?
Finding parametric equations is rather simple but the variables and terminology your book is using is rather clumsy. Better to pick another example with real numbers. Here is the essence of it: with the two vectors they crossed. Suppose when you cross them you get vector <2, 5, 3> and suppose the point is (4, 1, 2). Parametric equations are x=4+2t, y=1+5t, z=2+3t.
yup I get you. my book just makes everything complicated.
