10w^2-19w-15?

OpenStudy (yuki):

(5w+3)(2w-5) would be the answer, but let me show you a cool way to solve these guys

OpenStudy (yuki):

you multiply the 1st and the last number, 10 * 15 = 150

OpenStudy (yuki):

now you will find the factors of 150 such as 1&150 2&75 3&50 ...

OpenStudy (yuki):

while you are doing that, you will check if there is any way that you can combine those factors to get the middle coefficient, in our case -19 you will see that 6 and 25 (factors of 150) can be combined as 6-25 = -19

OpenStudy (yuki):

so once you find that out, you car write 10w^2 -19 w -15 as 10w^2 - 25w + 6w -15, so if you do factoring by grouping, 5w(w-5) + 3(w-5) and finally (5w+3)(w-5)

OpenStudy (yuki):

good luck with the other problems :)

Thank you!!! :D
