The premise (or premises) must be true for the argument to be valid. true or false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

myininaya (myininaya):

false

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can you explain your answers?

myininaya (myininaya):

premise conclusion agument T T T T F F F T T F F F

myininaya (myininaya):

the premise can be false and the arguement can still be valid

myininaya (myininaya):

oops that last arguent is T

myininaya (myininaya):

F F T

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah i know that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is a premise and a conclusion the same as an if, then conditional statement?

myininaya (myininaya):

you can look at it that way

OpenStudy (anonymous):

u gave me the wrong answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@ prettychicka who?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

tonks did

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a conditional has the result of premise conclusion agument T T T T F F F T T F F T which is different from what's above.

myininaya (myininaya):

no i made a correctiion did you not see?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah she made the correction

myininaya (myininaya):

oh you know im a she

myininaya (myininaya):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well he she, whatever you want to be called

myininaya (myininaya):

i have always looked at premises and conclusions in an argument as conditional statements.

myininaya (myininaya):

or treat them as such

OpenStudy (partha):

it's true iff arguments are valid or true.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is the answer true or false

myininaya (myininaya):

false as i said before

myininaya (myininaya):

i will never change my mind lol

OpenStudy (partha):

it's true as the logic says

myininaya (myininaya):

do not confuse sound and valid arguemnts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the link u sent states that a vaild argument have true premises

myininaya (myininaya):

sound arguments are the ones whos premises are always true thats the different from a valide when the premises can be false

myininaya (myininaya):

no lol

OpenStudy (partha):

as ur questn the arguments must be valid so ans is true.

myininaya (myininaya):

it says A sound arguemnt is a valid arguemnt is premises are always true

myininaya (myininaya):

whose*

myininaya (myininaya):

100% positive it is FALSE!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A valid argument is defined as one where if the premises are true, then the conclusion is true.

myininaya (myininaya):

in a valid argument you can also have false premises

OpenStudy (partha):

if something is exist means exist .it's not means there it's no more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

myininaya (myininaya):

sound arguments are the one's with true premises it says so on this website

OpenStudy (partha):

If P then Q, ~Q, therefore ~P

myininaya (myininaya):

yes thats the contrapostive of if

myininaya (myininaya):

p then q*

myininaya (myininaya):

i think you guys need to read the difference between sound and valid becasue you are getting the two confused

OpenStudy (partha):

ok let me know the solution

myininaya (myininaya):

i already did the above statement is false lol

myininaya (myininaya):

not the one where you mentioned contrapositives

OpenStudy (partha):

can u please write the truth table of this question

myininaya (myininaya):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Validity

myininaya (myininaya):

which question? the one where you had something down about contrapositives or rosette's?

OpenStudy (partha):

yes

myininaya (myininaya):

which one?

OpenStudy (partha):

you give the link only...i need the answer of your asked question with it's truth table...

myininaya (myininaya):

rosette that wikepedia site should give you more assurance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou

myininaya (myininaya):

i don't know what you are talking about partha i need to know what exactly you want me to write a truth table about

myininaya (myininaya):

and i meant to say link not site please let me know if it makes you feel better

myininaya (myininaya):

they also have something called formally valid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thankyou was false for those who thought it was true. Myininaya I will give you medal for your help

myininaya (myininaya):

thanks also one more thing i think an arguement with a false premise and a true conclusion is not valid since the conclusion does not follow from the premise so you can have the following two valid arguements true premise+true conclusion false premise+false conclusion the arguement is sound if the argument is of the following form: true premise+true conclusion

myininaya (myininaya):

i think i always been confused about the form false premise+true conclusion

myininaya (myininaya):

but im glad i was a help goodnight

myininaya (myininaya):

check this out this is very clean and easy to read this will help for any future questions on determining validness or invalidness

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks'

myininaya (myininaya):

lol wrong scan

myininaya (myininaya):

myininaya (myininaya):

there thats the right scan i have scanned so many things and all of them have the title cal in them lol
