please anybody clear my doubt.. one day i said to my friend about energy and i told him that the current produced by a dynamo can use to light up a bulb. so let us take a little bit of its output current to a step-up transformer and can produce much higher current. but he told me "its too shame friend. transformer only increases voltage, not current". is it correct? if yes, please tell me how to increase the current and voltage simultaneously
anybody there? please reply me
just reduce the resistance of 2ndry coil .. but it will make most of thing usless ( means you have to use a bulb of lower watt ( mostly dimmest)
The transformer conserves the power, so the output and input powers will be equal. If it is a step up transformer, it will increase the voltage but decrease the current. A step down transformer will do the reverse. There is no way, a transformer can increase both the voltage and current. After all, the energy is conserved in the nature and nothing can break this law.
power remains a constant by Joule's law. ie Power(energy)=voltage x current. when voltage increases current decreases and vice verse. As your friend told when he amplifies voltage using a transformer the current will automatically decrease, as their oroduct remains same assuming 100% efficiency.
