I am like not even able to focus right now and i did this problem but when i got my answer it wasnt what i thought it should be i am getting one point for the correct solution and one for the steps the problem is in an attachment and im in Algebra btw :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It says Solve the following equation. One point is given for showing steps and one point given for the correct solution.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and i solved it but then the answer i got was just like uhmmm wow i feel stupid thats obviously not rite... ^^

OpenStudy (mattfeury):

you need to isolate n on one side of the equation. you can start by multiplying by 2 to clear the denominator: 3 - n = 2*(3/4)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Actually it told me to find the LCM and multiply both equations by the lcm >.<

OpenStudy (m):

you don't need to do that if you're solving for n

OpenStudy (mattfeury):

LCM of what?

OpenStudy (m):

i'm assuming 8

OpenStudy (m):

i mean 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The LCM of the denominators which in this case idk the lesson was very confusing but im assumeing they wanted me to use 4 and i multiplyed the equation by for and then in like the last step i noticed it wasnt going to be the rite answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh yea ur second one is rite :)

OpenStudy (m):

2(3-n)/4 = 3/4 (6-2n)/4 = 3/4 6-2n = 3 2n = 3 n - 3/2

OpenStudy (radar):

If you are instructed to multiply through by LCM, and you are to be graded by procedure etc. I would multiply both sides by LCM of 4.

OpenStudy (radar):

Looks like it worked for M

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thats exactly what i got m and i kept thinking that would be the wrong answer!! WOW i need to have more confidence in my work >.<

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so then that would be rite/? i had assumed that it was going to be a whole number therefore thinking i had gotten the wrong answer

OpenStudy (m):

fraction answers make you feel uneasy :)

OpenStudy (m):

it doesn't make sense to use LCM in this case but you should do whatever they ask

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Alright yea fraction answers do make me feel uneasy ^^ but thanks u guys helped me alot! :)
