subtract 48 from both sides: -6x^2=-48 divide both sides by (-6): x^2=8 take square root both sides: x=sq.rt(2*4)=2sq.rt(2)
add 6x^2 to both sides, divide by 6, that the square root. don't forget the plus or minus
inik i dont think your answer is in a format my teacher is looking for. Right now im doing test corrections and my teacher marked me down for putting the answer as " +- 8"
\[-6x^2=-48\] \[6x^2=48\] \[x^2=\frac{48}{6}=8\] \[x=\sqrt{8}\] or \[x=-\sqrt{8}\] and since \[\sqrt{8}=\sqrt{4\times 2}=\sqrt{4}\times \sqrt{2}= 2\sqrt{2}\] your teacher might prefer the answer written in 'simplest radical form'
