These right cones are similar. H = , h = Volume of large cone = Volume of small cone = Volume of large cone = ------------------ Volume of small cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Find H by pyathagorean theorem.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like a2=b2=c2 right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

like 12sq2+H2=20SQ2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Right on!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 16

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You have enough to find volume big cone: (1/3)pi r^2 h

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 3pih then what next

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You know what is H and r for the big cone?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea 16 and 12

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now use 'similar triangles' to find small cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what u mean..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Take info from one triangle to find info from another h/16=3/12 solve for h of small cone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Now you have info like you did the big cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got 64

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good, check your work I was just showing the way. You have a lot of questions; you need this to graduate or what are you working on? :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just need help for my homework that all

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Keep working, you're pretty sharp.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i can to find the volume of small cone right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just follow exactly as you did the big cone. You have to keep track of the methods and techniques.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just got 4 as volume for small cone

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Good, check your work. I don't know.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so now i divide both volume but it have faction as answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Why are you dividing? I thought you just wanted vol of big cone, vol of small cone.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

look up the title it said divide = ?/?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Or do you mean the final answer of each happens to be a fraction? If that is what you mean it is OK it starts with a fraction 1/3; not everything ends in whole numbers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh i get and can u help me with the other question?
