Question

can anyone explain the magnification formula to me please??? as in tell me the units that theyre in, coz it confuses me :S
images size=actual size x magnification??

This is a physics question, not a biology question .-. But.... to answer your question, the formula can also be written as \[(image size)/(actual size) = Magnification\]Now, the units of the image and actual size is in measurements of length (m, inches, cm) and you can see that the units cancel out so Magnification is unit-less. Magnification can always be thought of how big the new (image size) is relative to the actual object.

ignore that

but i used the formula but then when the actual size was in mm and the image size was micrometre
dividing it gave me the wrong answer

i had to convert mm to m to get the right answer thats what im getting confused on the units in which they have to be in before getting divided :S

Oh, always make sure you have the right units. Like mili is 1000 times larger than micro
