Can someone please check this for me?
A telephone pole 35 ft tall has a guy wire attached to it 5 ft from the top and tied to a ring on the ground 15 ft from the base of the pole. Assume that an extra 2 feet of wire is needed to attach the wire to the ring and the pole. What length of wire is needed for the job? Give an answer to the nearest tenth of a foot.....
225 + 1225 = c^2
1450 = c^2
38.08 = c
plus 2 more feet =
40.08
5(40.08) = 200.4 ft of wire is needed for the job.

sqrt(30^2 + 15^2) +2 = length

where did 30 come from?
OpenStudy (amistre64):
sqrt(1125)+2 = 35.54
OpenStudy (amistre64):
35 tall, 5 foot from top = 30

I see where 1125 + 2 = 1127 where is 35.54 coming from?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
Wait square root of 1125 is 33.54 then add the 2 = 35.54 feet of wire needed for the job?
OpenStudy (amistre64):
