To get one die with a value of three, the probability is 1/6. Now, knowing that one die is a 3 and that the sum of the values on the two dice > 6, the second die can have values of either 4, 5, or 6. Since this is three values out of a total of 6, there is a probability of 1/2 that the second die will have one of these values. Therefore, since the total probability is the multiplication of the individual probabilities, the total probability is (1/2)*(1/6), or 1/12
