divide 18x^3-33x^2-39x-9/6x+3

First of all notice that three divides both the numerator (the function on top) and the denominator (the other one). This means that you now get this: (6x^3-11x^2-13x-3)/(2x+1). Now take the term with the highest power in the numerator (6x^3) and divide it by the term with the highest is the denominator (2x) to get 3x^2. Take note of this: you will need it later. Then multiply (2x+1) by (3x^2) and take this product from (6x^3-11x^2) to get (-14x^2). Now add (-13x) to this. Divide -14x^2 by 2x to obtain -7x. Note down -7x. Now take (-14x-7x) from (-14x^2-13x) to get -4x. Divide this by 2x to get -2. Note down -2. The next part is tricky to explian so it might be best if I show your a written calculation using word. Hang on :)
