how would i go about figuring out 20 ounces for $1.89 and 32 ounces for $3.19

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You would notice the difference form the ounces and subtract the two and figure out why they are that much far apart

OpenStudy (anonymous):

im not sure i understand

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what is your goal? to find how much each costs per ounce?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OK. if so: Item A is 20 oz. for $1.89 which is 189 cents

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if we want to know the cost per ounce for item A, then we use division. see "cost per ounce" per here essentially means division. so the cost is $189 or 189 cents and the # ounces we have is 20. ---> there fore it is 189 cents / 20 ounces --> which would mean that 189/20 = x, where x = 9.45 cents or $0.0945. so we can check by seeing how much 20 ounces of item A would cost at the price of $0.0945 per ounce

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 * 0.0945 = 1.89

OpenStudy (anonymous):

20 = 2*10 --> 2*0.0945 = 0.189. and (.189) * 10 = 1.89

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you the same concept for item B
