Hey! I want to learn programming... sadly because I'm new to this I don't know what program to start with and is programming worth it?

Go to processing.org and there are tutorials and a great community to learn from. I learned how to program from here and it is a good start. openprocessing.org is supplement to the product site. the software "processing" is free.

I'm not a programmer, but... firstly it depends what you are thinking of doing with your programming... rsmith made a good suggestion java is probably a useful language, but I am finding Python easier to start with (I decided to switch from Java), although it seems to be less highly regarded. MIT Intro to Computer Science is what I am learning it with.

I've done both the MIT Intro and Stanford's CS106A. IMO, without a knowledge of calculus, Stanford is better. Their course's full name is Programming Methodology. MIT's is required for all engineering disciplines, Stanford's is for every discipline, not just engineering.

http://math.hws.edu/javanotes/ has a free book on java and goes right from the beginning of programming to advanced programming techniques. He also puts demonstration files on there. Java's a great language to start with because it is multi-platform and is easy to work with. Many universities introduce programming with the Java language because it is the simplest for new students to understand.
