How do you change a temperature that is in Fahrenheit to Celsius form?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we can create a function; that has already been created :) by knowing that 0 = 32 and 100= 212

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the slope between then and the points give us a formula to follow

OpenStudy (amistre64):

F,C ---- 212,100 - 32, 0 -------- 180,100; slope = y,x = 100/180 = 10/18 - 5/9 C-0 = 5/9(F - 32) C = (5/9)F - 160/32 C = (5/9)F - 5 i believe

OpenStudy (amistre64):

100 = 5/9(212) - 5 should work if i did it right i think it should be -32 and not -5 tho....

OpenStudy (amistre64):

160/32 is where i missed it ; thats a typo

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i looked it up and it says: C = 5/9(F-32) ; i shoulda stopped while I was ahead lol

OpenStudy (amistre64):

at f = 212 that sould be c - 100 then 212 -32 ---- 180(5) ------ = 100 all right :) 9

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dispite my apparent stupidity; did that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah actually it did

OpenStudy (amistre64):

good :) i knew you smart ;)
