I need to prove that the sum of 1/n^2 is pi/6, and i have no idea how to prove this, i can show convergence by the p-series test but thats about it...

it is actually Pi^2/6. I know a proof using complex analysis, have you taken that course?

it is not obvious unless you are euler. easy to look up the proof though.
