If I understand this problem, I believe you are trying to find a common factor that belongs to both of these factors. If this is so, then this is what I get: 28uv^5(w^8) = 28uv^5w^8 10u^4(w^6) = 10u^4w^6 2 is common to both of these u is common to both of these w^6 is common to both of these Therefore, the common factor is: 2uw^6 This then makes 28uv^5w^8 equal to 14v^5w^2 and 10u^4w^6 equal to 5u^3 These occur because the common factor of 2uw^6 was taken out
