Can someone explain sex-linked inheritance? My text doesn't really cover it but it was mentioned in class.
Is it X-linked? and if it is x-linked, I'm not sure what that means either...
can you restate your question.
it is inherited from your x-linked chromosomes or y-linked chromosomes just like color-blindness which is a dominant trait in males and a recessive trait in females. If you inherit it and it gets manifested that means that you have inherited a y-linked disorder coz it is usually found in y-chromosomes. It really gets complicated to discuss the whole thing but you to be able to understand this one you also have to understand the basic laws that govern genetics(mendelian, non-mendelian laws) as well as Meiosis in that way you'll be able to comprehend the idea between the sex-linked inherited dis-orders as well as traits.. ;)
Or simply, the sex chromosome. The last chromosome that makes a girl as a girl and a boy as a boy. (We have 23 pairs of chromosomes). If your 46th chromosome is an X then you are a female, and Y is a male. This where the problem is. That is why it is called SEX LINKED or X-linked.
