The mass of Neptune is about 1.03*10^23 metric tons. The mass of the sun is about 1.998*10^27 metric tons. About how many times the mass of Neptune is the mass of the sun? Give your answer in scientific notation. The mass of the sun is about ? times the mass Neptune

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my guess 10,000 times but see what others think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to put it in scientific notation...

OpenStudy (gw2011):

The mass of the sun is about 1.94*10^4 greater than that of Neptune. This is how I arrived at the answer: (1.998*10^27)/(1.03*10^23)

I tried that I believe and not the correct answer let me try again.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you that was right I was a lil off which is a major thing in math

OpenStudy (gw2011):

You're welcome. I'm glad it worked out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.94*10^4 is what i got as well...
