I cant seem to figure out these questions this is the equation for these questions. fx=-.68(x-26.56)^2+116.13 Estimate the number of women per 1000 who give birth at age 24 according to your model. At what age do the most women give birth (to the nearest tenths) per 1000? How many per 1000? (If you chose a, h, and k so that your model “goes through” all the TI-plot-boxes of your points, it wasn’t likely that your vertex happened at , but it will be close.)

simple

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first part, sub x= 24 into the formula and use your calculator I assume x represents age

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now , the second and thrid parts are based on parabola knowledge

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is a concave down parabola , because it has a negative x^2 coefficent

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so , the function will take its maxium value when the first term ( the negative term ) is zero

OpenStudy (anonymous):

this occurs when x=26.56 , so this is the answer to the second, when do most give birth

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when the negative term is zero all that is left is 116.13 , the constant term, this is the answer to the third part

OpenStudy (anonymous):

for the first question I put the 24 in the equation and I graphed it on my calculator and its just a straight line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a flat line I hope, a horizontal line

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well.. thats the answer ? a flat line is a just a number, a constant value
