Can someone explain pi to me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In what context? ... value? relation? geometric?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In geometric.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry forgot that important info

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's kind of a magic number... and the symbol (pi \[\pi\]) is just used as shorthand so we don't have to keep writing out 3.1415... blah blah blah. Are you working on area of a circle or what? (which class/level are you taking?)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am working on diameter of a circle

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A round patio is 14 m in diameter. What is the distance around the patio?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Diameter = 2 * radius... and Area = 2pi*r\[Area = 2 \pi r^2\] Which info do you have that they gave you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With the formula you gave me i figured it is 43.96

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah! Ok.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You want circumference (distance around)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you so much! I understand now. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Cool! :) and yeah, I think you're answer is correct. :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

WOOOO HOOOO! I think i like this now. :)
